Treatment

Psychotherapy

When a child or teen is struggling with anxiety, mood, behavior, or a difficult life change, therapy can give them the tools to move forward. My work with children, adolescents, and young adults is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems approaches, always adapted to the individual in front of me.

Sessions focus on developing real coping strategies, strengthening emotional regulation, and rebuilding connection within families. Treatment is collaborative. I work closely with parents and, when appropriate, with schools and pediatricians, to make sure support is consistent across all the places a child spends time.

What to Expect

The first session is longer, typically 90 minutes, and is focused on getting a full picture of the concerns and what your family needs. For part of that session, I may meet briefly with your child or adolescent individually. Before we wrap up, we’ll all come back together and I will share my initial impressions and recommendations.

Follow-up sessions are 50 minutes.  The frequency of sessions will depend on what is clinically indicated. Sessions are goal-directed and almost always involve some degree of parent participation, because the families who stay engaged in the process tend to see the greatest and most lasting gains.
